Missing summer treats like refreshing juices and beautiful smoothie bowls already? The following treats are guaranteed to refresh your taste buds and take you back to warmer weather!
Green Goddess Smoothie
- For this coconut bowl, I bought a pre-scored coconut which I found at Kroger for 2.99. To start the process of opening up your coconut you have to drain all of the coconut water out of it. To start the draining process I nailed in two holes in the eye of the coconut.
- After nailing in the two holes you can drain the liquid into a bowl or what I used, a mason jar. After draining the liquid you may notice some of the coconut shell in it from when you nailed the holes. Do not be alarmed you can easily strain all this out with a tightly knit cheesecloth.
- The next step to cracking open your coconut is to hit it with a hammer along the pre-scored line. After a few taps around the coconut, it should pop right off.
4. For the coconut bowl, we will be using the half that is free of holes. The next important part of the bowl is deciding which smoothie and decor you will be using to top your smoothie bowl
5. Making the smoothie is the next part. For this particular bowl, I chose a green smoothie. The ingredients are as follows:
- frozen pineapple
- fresh kiwi
- fresh spinach
- coconut milk, or water
6. For the last step in making the bowl, which is the decor, I chose green starfruit and kiwi. Given that these bowls aren't very big there is only so much you can put on the bowls.
7. The final and most important step is to enjoy!
Pineapple Watermelon Juice
- The ingredients needed for this recipe are only two things!
- A whole Pineapple
- 2 Cups of Watermelon
3.After your pineapple cup has been formed place any of the leftover pineapple meat inside a high powered blender. Next, add your 2-3 cups of watermelon into the blender.
4. Blend both ingredients together until paste-like.
5. After the ingredients are blended together you have two options the first is to strain it over ice into a jar or bowl.
6. Or your other option would be to pour sections of the mixture into a cheesecloth and then squeeze the juice into the mason jar or bowl. After trying both methods I preferred the cheesecloth method just because it was more efficient at straining the fibers and any unblended pieces out. After using the cheesecloth I then poured it over the ice strainer helping the juice cool down faster.
7. The last step is to pour the juice into your pineapple cup and pop a metal, bamboo, or paper straw in!
